Stella Barnett is a hospice patient. It is important to her that her voice is included in our oral history project, as she feels she is someone who can talk about the service from the inside. In her interview, she explains how she was referred to St Richard’s. She finds it very reassuring having nurse specialists at the end of the phone and also knowing that all her notes are lodged in one place under one consultant.
In this extract she talks about her first trip to the day hospice, how her family and especially her husband are coping with her illness and how calm she feels about the future. Stella was on oxygen when this was recorded.
